The best part of our trip to Central Java was our accomodation, Amanjiwo Resort. Amanjiwo is part of Aman group, the hotel group that is already well known for their standards. We chose this place mainly because it was only 3km away from the main attraction that we were planning to visit, Borobudur Temple.
Amanjiwo is located further away from Yogyakarta, closer to Borobudur area, Magelang. The site is a secluded area surrounded by hills, farms, and rice paddies. Aman resorts are very famous for their amazing hotel architectures and design that always adapt local elements. For Amanjiwo, the structure is showcasing a pillared temple form, made of local limestone (Paras Gold Yogya). Walk into their private rice paddy field for a treat for your eyes, with Menoreh Hill just behind the hotel and the sound of roosters and tokek from every direction.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a couple of Javanese girls in their traditional outfit scattering flower petals in our entrance paths. The main lobby is an open air atrium with stunning view. In a clear day, you could see Borobudur temples in a distance from the main lobby or main dining.
The main dining is nothing but peaceful, tranquil, surrounded by nature and beautiful scenery. No tall building is in sight.
We were totally in love with the pool club area. Although our room was the Garden Pool Suite so we did not really have to go to the pool club for a swim, we loved spending time there. There was a restaurant / bar by the pool side where we could just chill and enjoy the stunning view.
In one of the nights we were there, we had a private Indonesian Barbecue dinner. There were a few choices of menus, we went with the Indonesian one. The dinner was held at the pool club and the whole area was privately reserved for both of us. During dinner there was a performance by four dancers telling a story of Ramayana.
Now, let’s get to the rooms. These private villas are clean, spacious, featuring outdoor bathtub, private pool, and his-and-her vanities and wardrobes.
The worst part of our stay in Amanjiwo is the day we had to leave the place.
